Relay for Life Spring 5K - March 17

A flat, fast course starts and ends at the Yorkville Fire Dept., where pre- and post-race activities will take place. Proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. The race is part of the “Taking Strides Towards Better Health” Grand Prix Race Series (https://grandprix.healthplan.org). The entry fee is $15 until 03/12/12 ($18). Donations are welcome. Race day registration will be held at the school from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Online registration is available via TheRaceDeal.com. There also is a Fun Run (8:30 a.m.), which has a fee of $3 until 03/12/12 ($5). Awards will be presented to the top 3 male and female walkers and runners overall and in age divisions. T-shirts will be available, and post-race activities will include a Chinese auction. The race, which benefits Trinity Emergency Assistance Relief Fund & Toronto Coalition For Revitalization, starts and ends at Toronto Emergency Medical Services. There also is a Kids 1K, which has an entry fee of $7 until 03/02/12 ($10). The 5k run and walk, which respectively start at 11:30 a.m. and 11:40 a.m., have a fee of $15 until 03/02/12 ($18). Timing chips and T-Shirts are guaranteed only to those who register by 03/02/12. Medals will be presented to the top runners and walkers in age divisions, and the top 2 kids will be rewarded in age divisions. There also will be team participation awards. The race, which equally benefits the “Kids Program at the Park” (KPAP) and the park maintenance, is a member of “Taking Strides Towards Better Health” Grand Prix Race Series (https://grandprix.healthplan.org) and the Barnesville Grand Prix Series. The races will be held entirely within the park. The 5K entry fee is $12 until 03/19/12 ($15), the walk fee is $10 until 03/19/12 ($12), and the kids’ fee (ages 5-12) is $3 until 03/19/12 ($5). Race day registration will commence at 7:45 at the Albert George Youth Center at the park. Trophies will be presented to the top 7 male and female walkers, and to the top 2 male and female runners overall and in age divisions. All kids will be rewarded. JASR is comprised of 4 events: ½ marathon run / walk, ½ marathon 3-person relay, 30K run (runners only), and 5K run / walk. Visit www.race360.com/14355 for the entry fee schedule. All races will take place entirely on gently rolling paved roads within North Park. There will be overall and age division awards, including prize money. Race proceeds benefit Webark Estates, a no-kill animal shelter located in Moundsville, WV. The trail run, which will be held at the Zion Christian retreat & Nature Center, is a member of "Taking Strides Towards Better Health" Grand Prix Race Series (https://grandprix.healthplan.org). Proceeds benefit East Richland Christian Schools. The entry fee is $15 until 04/28/12 ($20). (There is a $5 each discount for families of 3 or more members.) Race day registration will be between 7:45 and 8:45 a.m. Awards will be presented to the top 3 male & female runners & walkers overall and in age divisions. Timing will be by George Frazier. The race is a part of 3 Grand Prix Series: A. It is the 5th Race in Health Plan Grand Prix (https://grandprix.healthplan.org) B. It is the 2nd of four races in the Barnesville Grand Prix (www.RailsToTrails5k.com) C. It is part of the Washington Co. (Pa.) Road Runners Club (WCRRC) Grand Prix Series
Despite its name, the course is contained on 90% paved streets and is flat/fast as many PRs have been run on it. We proudly offer more awards (175!) than most 5ks you will find anywhere. Awards are unique and hand-crafted. All participants are guaranteed a mesh shirt (not cotton) in their size. The first 300 finishers receive a race towel. There are plenty of pizzas, subs, sandwiches, home-made cookies. If you leave hungry, it’s your own fault!
We also offer nearly 100 door prizes valued @ $2,000! Kids’ race begins shortly after the 5k. The 1st 100 kids receive a gym bag jammed full of toys, goodies, and certificates.

Timing will be by ChronoTrack timing tag, with gun time being used for award calculation. Cash awards and certificates will be presented to the top males and females in open, masters, and age divisions. Pre-registrants are guaranteed a Dry-Fit shirt. Race towels, bottled water, and fruit will be available immediately after the race. There will be a post-race ceremony at which time participants can use food vouchers. Bishop Donahue High School is sponsoring a non-competitive, non-timed, Fun Run/Walk to help benefit the Bishop Donahue High School "We Believe" Campaign.
