Saturday, 02/27/10 (10: 00 a.m.) 34th Annual Spring Thaw (Allison Park, PA). Races of 10, 15, and 20 miles are staged from The North Park Rose Barn and consist of 5-mile loops around a lake. The entry fees vary, depending upon the race entered and the date of application submission. All runners will be scored for the 10-mile event, with the top 3 males and females overall and in age division will receive awards. Also, the top male and female masters of the 10 and 20-mile races and the top 3 overall male and female 20-mile finishers will be rewarded. Pre-registrants (02/15/10) will receive long sleeve tech shirts. 15-mile finishers will receive a pair of gloves, and 20-mile finishers will receive an embroidered hat and gloves. Sunday, 02/28/10 (1:00 p.m.) 29th Annual Winter Run – 15 & 3-Mile Races (Granville, OH).  Note: The race venue has moved from Pickerington, OH to Granville, OH. Both races start and end at Granville Intermediate School. The 15-mile event features (2) 7-1/2 mile loops, while the 3-miler is out-and-back. The entry fee is $25 until 02/13 ($30). Awards will be presented to the top 3 males and females overall and in age groups and to the top 5 overall male and female 5-milers. Participants will receive long-sleeve T-shirts. Sunday, 03/07/10 21st Annual &RRC Mill Creek Distance Classic – Half Marathon (8:45 a.m.) & 5K (9:00 a.m.). Both events will take place entirely within Mill Creek State Park and feature challenging courses. The entry fees are $25 and $15 respectively until 03/06, when a $2 late fee will apply. Saturday, 03/13/10 (10:00 a.m.) St. Patrick’s 5K Fun Run / Walk & Kid’s 1K (0.6 Mile) Fun Run / Walk (Toronto, OH). The race starts at Black Horse Landing and ends at Henley St. The 5K entry fee is $15 (includes a T-shirt), The Kids’ 1K (13 years old and younger) is $7 (includes a T-shirt), and the Fun Run is $10 (does not include a T-shirt). Saturday, 04/03/10 (9:00 a.m.) Webark 5K Run & Walk (Glen Dale, WV). Race proceeds benefit Webark Estates, a no-kill animal shelter located in Moundsville, WV. The out-and-back course starts and ends at Reynolds Memorial Hospital. The entry fee is $15. (Children 15 and younger -- $10.) Online registration is available via www.active.com. Applications can be printed from www.iplayoutside.com. Awards will be presented to the top 3 male and female runners and walkers overall and in age divisions. Saturday, 04/17/10 (9:00 a.m.) Catholic Charities West Virginia Race For Hope 5K Run / Walk (Wheeling, WV). The race, which will raise funds and awareness in support of CCWVA Northern Region, starts at 17th & Wood Street, travels along Wheeling’s Heritage Trail and Rock Point Rd, and finishes in the vicinity of 1st Choice America Credit Union. The entry fee is $15 until 04/12/10 ($18). Registration and post-race activities will take place at St. Alphonsus Parish Hall at 21st & Market St. Awards will be presented to the top 3 males and females and masters in both the run and walk. Also, the top 2 males and females of both events will be recognized in age divisions. There also will be a 100-meter Munchkin Run for children ages 3 to 8. Sunday, 04/18/10 2010 Union Hospital Run For Home Half-Marathon, 3-Person Team Relay, & Fun Run (New Philadelphia, OH). The course starts and ends at Tuscora Park. The registration fee for the half-marathon is $30 until 03/15/10 ($50), and the relay fee is $75 until 03/15/10 ($100). The 5-mile walk and the Fun Run have fees of $20 and $10 respectively until 03/15/10 ($25 & $12 respectively). There is no fee for the Kids’ Run. Online registration is available via www.ohiochallengeseries.com or www.runforhome.org. The 3-person relay is male, female, or coed. There will be awards presented in all events. All half-marathon finishers will receive Tech shirts and a medallion, while fun run and walk participants will receive a T-shirt. There will be post-race refreshments and entertainment. Saturday, 05/15/10 (8:30 a.m.) Barnesville’s 4th Annual Rails-To-Trails 5K Run / Walk (Barnesville, OH). The course is primarily flat, out-and-back, starting and ending at the Train Depot. Immediately following the awards ceremony, the Kids’ Tunnel Run will be staged. The entry fee for the 5K is $16 until 05/10/10 ($20). There is a special group rate of $13 each for four or more people (pre-registration only). Handcrafted trophies will be awarded to the top 3 males and females overall and in age divisions, as well as in masters and Clydesdales. The top 12 male and female walkers also will be recognized, as will be the top 3 male and female masters. There also will be an awards for the top 3 canine / human teams. Pre-registrants are guaranteed a mesh T-shirt. There will be random door prizes following the race, which is part of the Washington County Road Runners Club Grand Prix Series. Saturday, 07/24/10 (8:00 a.m.) World Gym Bellaire 5K Pump & Run ( Bellaire, OH ). Athletes will bench press their weight as many times as possible and then run a 5K race. 5K times will be reduced by 30 seconds for each successful bench press rep. The 5K will start and end at World Gym Bellaire. Early registration fee is $15; race day registration is $20. Awards will be presented to the top 3 males and females overall and in age divisions. Saturday, 08/21/10 (8:00 a.m.) Parkersburg News & Sentinel Half Marathon (Parkersburg, WV). The half-marathon, which features a rolling course, is the RRCA National Half Marathon Championship. The entry fee is $35 until 07/15, $40 until 07/31 and $45 until the day before the race. There also is a two-mile race, which starts at 8:10 a.m. and has a registration fee of $15 until 07/15 and $18 until the day before the race. There is no race-day registration. Online registration is available via www.NewsandSentinelHalfMarathon.com . Timing is via chip. Awards are plentiful for runners and walkers, male and female, open and heavyweight divisions. T-shirts are guaranteed to pre-registrants. Runners who compete in both the Ogden 20K and The News & Sentinel Half-Marathon will receive a special T-shirt. There are a pre-race pasta dinner and a post-race pizza luncheon.
