OVRWC Minutes Meeting   - Tuesday,  October 6 , 2009 – 7:00 pm

 

Members present – 18

 

·        Dennis Delbert – Opened the meeting with recent board meeting discussions.  The following boards members were present:

 

Dennis Delbert, President,  Denny Stephan, 2nd. VP,  Diane Basich, Secretary, Marti Stephan, Treasurer, John Bartsch, Quality Assurance,  Bill Freyler, Communications, Wayne McCracken, Member-at-large, Rod Miller, Member-at-Large, Tonya Mangerie, Publicity and Cindy Foose, Social Director.

 

The Board discussed the following issues:

 

 

 

·        Dennis Delbert- the meeting continued with the board meeting discussions regarding the above issues.

 

Monthly Club Meetings -

                                               

As in the past,  the club has 4 meetings that have scheduled activities, Jan. – Jeopardy, Aug. – club picnic, Nov. Nominations of Officers and Dec. – club Christmas Party.  The balance of meeting dates will consist of four meetings that will have a speaker, and four open forum meetings.  Also, a light snack will continue to be served at each meeting.  The club members would like Dennis to post on the website the question on what would interest fellow runners and to make suggestions on what topic they would like to hear at a scheduled meeting.

 

                        Awards 2009 -

 

Mike Hudimac, Award chairman led the discussion with the board of what awards will be given.  The following was decided – Race Director of the year  (1), Sponsor of the Year  - (1), Volunteer of the Year – (2) and Best T-shirt Design of the Year – (1).

 

 

Club Treasury -

 

Marti spoke to the board regarding the club money balance and the need to possibly give back to the community.  Student scholarship awards and children in need were discussed.   Dennis commented that he would contact the OVAC for suggestions in possible awarding a student athletic scholarship.

 

 

                        Upcoming Races -

 

Dennis spoke to the board regarding the Turkey Trot – Nov. 26th.  Santa Trot – Dec. 5th. John Nalley/Red Cross.

 

Dennis also commended Rod, Cindy and Denise for a great race at Barkcamp 10K Road Race.  359 total participants.  The 5K Autism race was very successful.  The proceeds will allow the PACE organization to present a well-known speaker at their Oct. 13th meeting. Also, the Intellectual Disabilities 10K/5K was a well-organized race and had a great 10K course.  Thanks to all the race directors for their hard work!

 

 

Denny Stephan - Timing System –

 

Denny Stephan informed the board that he would no longer be running for his current position of  2nd. VP.  He also would no longer be doing the club insurance activities.  Denny was commended for a job well done!

 

In regard to the timing system, Denny commented about the timing system and the actual timers.   He is working with the developer to be able to get the timers working.

 

The club will continue to work with George Fraizer and his group in timing races for the remaining 2009 racing season.

 

Rod Miller – commented about the Barkcamp 10K race and his concern of the cost of bib numbers for next year.  Runner’s World will be charging $.25/per number.  Dennis would be able to get the numbers from his supplier, Asics or New Balance at no cost

 

A card for fellow runner, Richard Hall, was given to the members to sign.  Richard is now receiving chemo.  He is staying with his daughter, Darlene in California. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Richard and his family.
