OVRWC Minutes Meeting - Tuesday, November 3, 2009 7:00 pm

· Dennis Delbert Opened the meeting with a welcome to the members and turned the meeting over to Tom Rownd. Tom commented about the Auggie 5K race. This year the race had 318 registered runners. A great turn out. He also thanked those who helped. Tom noted the Centre Town Fitness 5K would be held on Saturday, November 7th, with a 9:00 am start.
Dennis Delbert spoke to the club regarding the OVAC Scholarship Award. He spoke to Tom Ratazicak regarding the scholarship. Tom commented there was no Cross Country Scholarship given. He appreciated the clubs interest in sponsoring a scholarship.
Dennis then brought to the club, the discussion of the amount to be awarded and the criteria on which the student would apply. Tom Rownd made a motion of $500.00 for the scholarship, second by Dave Hoskins. The scholarship would be for a boy or girl with the following criteria:
1. Athletic Performance
2. GPA (grade point average)
3. Financial Need
· Dennis Delbert continued with the nomination of officers for 2010. He also commented the board will now meet the last Wednesday of the month, prior to the next club meeting.

The club will elect the 2009/2010 Officers at the December meeting.
A member discussion was prompted by Angela Zambito. She discussed with the club the need of content for the newsletter. Angie suggested that we could have a possible theme area in the newsletter that could bring a runners interest, favorite race, etc. Denny Stephan suggested that Nancy Barry could serve as an Assistant Editor that would gather the content for the newsletter and send on to the editor. A motion was made to create the position of Asst. Editor, by Angela Zambito, second by Denny Stephan. Marti Stephan nominated Nancy Barry for the position of Asst. Editor, second by Carl Kondrach.
Tonya Mangerie spoke to the club of an upcoming Blood Drive in honor of Aubrey Brooks. Aubrey was born with a race genetic condition called Congenital Erythropoietin Porphyries (CEP). She receives blood transfusions on a regular basis. The drive will be held on Tuesday, November 24th. Noon to 6:00pm. The drive location will be held at Rees Care, 67051 Executive Dr., St. Clairsville, OH. Participants of the blood drive will also have the opportunity to be identified as a possible bone marrow donor.
· Cindy Foose spoke to the club regarding the next meeting, and a Christmas Party that she is organizing for that evening. Everyone was asked to write down what they planned to bring for the party.
Dennis also commented that at the Christmas party club members would vote on the Award nominees.

The club members are also asked to bring their favorite race T-shirt they received in the 2009 racing season. The club members will vote for the best.
Cindy Foose, Social Director, along with Denise Miller, organized a small reception for Diane Basich and Wayne McCracken. Diane & Wayne were married on Friday, October 23rd. at Siesta Key, FL. Club members enjoyed the refreshments.
