OVRWC Minutes – Tuesday, March  4, 2008 – 7:00 pm

Members present – 22

• Dennis Delbert – Dennis Delbert welcomed members.  Spoke to the club about the following club projects:

Old Business

• Paul McIntyre Memorial
• “Freedom Run” proceeds

• Denny Stephan has made contact in hope of getting these projects completed in the near future.

• Tom Rownd– Spoke to the club regarding the finalized plans with the OVRWC and Centre Town Fitness.

The fitness club had agreed to offer a one month membership with a “new” Ohio Valley Runner’s Walkers Club” membership.

 Tom Rownd and George Fraiser will be interviewed by a local Ohio Valley newspaper.   A photo to be taken and published.

Tom spoke about the race calendar and the WeBark 5K Run will be the first club race for the season.

• Dennis Delbert - Dennis brought to the attention of the club the need for volunteers for the Ogden Friday Night Events.  Dennis Delbert, Denny Stephan and John Bartsch will meet.

  • Dennis commented that he will need 25 or 30 members to volunteer

• Dennis thanked Trilby Henderson for a great March/April Newsletter.  Again, information needs to be sent to Trilby by the 15^th of each month.  It was also asked that Tribly get some help to ease her workload.

Dennis discussed with the club a letter the club received from the Washington Wild Things.  The ticket office was inviting members at a $7.00/per ticket rate for the upcoming baseball season.   Denise Miller nominated Cindy Foose to contact the club and inquire about the game schedule and ticket availability.Cindy was also elected as the social director of the club

A club member discussed the President Lifestyle Program that was to begin at WJU.  The program was to start on March 20^th and continue for 6 weeks.  The program could possibly bring running/walking awareness to the area.  Anyone can visit the website and see what it’s all about: www.presidentchallenge.org

• Tom Rownd – Tom introduced Mr. Chuck Miller, race director of a running event scheduled to be held on Saturday, April 26^th.

• Dennis Delbert – Dennis introduced Mr. Steve Habursky, Ohio Valley Ironman.  Steve spoke to the club regarding how the running scene has changed from the 70’s to the present time.
