OVRWC Meeting - Tuesday, June  2, 2009 – 7:00 pm

·        Dennis Delbert – Opened the meeting by introducing speaker, Dick Lambi, physical therapist.  Dick spoke to club members regarding running strategies and stretching techniques.  A question and answer session was held.

Dennis spoke to the regarding the board meeting that was held prior to the regular scheduled club meeting.   

The Board discussed the following issues:

·        Race Director Agreement

·        Race Timing System

·        Ogden 20K

·        Club Picnic

Dennis commented the club is in the guidelines with the RRCA, however, there is still a need for the club to get involved in the upcoming Freedom Race and the Turkey Trot.

·        Denny Stephan -  commented about he timing system and is working to correct the problem that was experienced at the Wheeling Catholic Charities Run for Hope Race.   The timing system will be used as a “back-up” system to George Fraizer for the remaining 2009 race season.

·        Dennis Delbert – thanked Bill Fryler, Communications, for all his help in contacting club members for the Ogden 20K  Friday Night activities. 

·        Many club members, (walkers) were very upset regarding the 5K Ogden  Run/ Walk that was held.  Susie Keefer spoke to the club regarding the race.  She commented the race application was very vague with regards to the awards to be given to the walkers.   The race results were all grouped in the running divisions.  No actual walker awards were given.  Club members were also concerned with the Ogden Awards ceremony.  The club would like to meet with race director, Bob Scatterday, and discuss the above problems.  It was also suggested by club members the need of the OVRWC to take charge of the Friday Night Activities.

Dennis also spoke to the club regarding a club picnic.  The picnic will be held on Tuesday, August 4^th,  6:00 pm, at Wheeling Park.  Shelter location to be announced at the July club meeting.  Those attending will be asked to bring a covered dish.  The club will provide the meat item, grill supplies, paper products and drinks.  A sign-up sheet was passed to those club members who would plan to attend the picnic.  A sign-up sheet will also be available at the July meeting.  All members and/or families are welcome to attend. 

·        Ron Green – spoke to the club regarding the upcoming Debbie Green 5K Run/Walk that will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2009, 7:00 pm start.  Ron stated the continued support of area runners; along with his racing supporters/volunteers have made this race bigger and better each year.
