OVRWC Minutes – Tuesday, January 8, 2008 – 7:00 pm

- Dennis Delbert – Dennis Delbert thanked Tom
Rownd for his many years of service to the club.
- Dale Landefeld – Dale introduced Kirk Glasgow,
Superintendent, Union Local School District. Mr. Glasgow spoke to the club
regarding the current construction of a new district project, “Trail Blazing
Campaign”. The Trail Blazing Campaign will establish a nature trail on the
Union Local Campus for the students, faculty, and the community.
- Trail Highlights – Exercise Path, Outdoor
Classrooms, Weather Station, Pond & Pier, Wild Bird Sanctuary, Butterfly
Garden, Benches, Picnic Tables, Shelter, Amphitheater
Mr. Glasgow asked for the support
of the club for a sponsorship. Donating towards the Nature Trail System is an
expression of support for the goals of The Union Local School District and for
the community. New sponsorships, as well as, sponsorship options, would help
the district achieve their goal of having the Nature Trail and Outdoor
Laboratories become a reality,

Foose commended Mr. Glasgow and the Union Local School District for undertaking
this project. Cindy made a motion to purchase “Adopt a Trail Sign for 725 ft”,
in the amount of $200.00. Jay Keefer second the motion, Motion carried. Joe
Ellis suggested that we will look at our finances in July and possibly make
another donation for $200.00. Jay Keefer second the motion. Motion carried
pending the financial status of the club in July.

A general club discussion was
held regarding the above challenges for the club in the upcoming year.
- Jay Keefer – Addressed the club regarding the
judging process during a race. Jay felt that club members should not be
involved in the actual judging of the walkers. No one is qualified in our
club to be a judge. Suggested bring someone qualified or outside people
to monitor the races. Dave Hoskins commented that he would speak to the
club walkers as a group and try to resolve this problem. Dave will bring
back the suggestions to the club at a later date.
- Tom Rownd – Spoke to the club regarding the
article in the “Bloomers & Beyond” supplement.
- Dennis Delbert – Newsletter information to
Trilby Henderson. Email to Trilby before February 15th. It was
also discussed to form a committee to lessen the workload on Trilby.
- Jay Keefer – Race results needing a more faster
processing. Possible computerizing. Denny Stephan will reinvestigate a
possible system. Also, participants in club races have requested a “full
race” result.
- Next Meeting – Tuesday, February 5th.
